Adrian Sudbury has been a reporter for both the Huddersfield Express and Chronicle Series and the Huddersfield Examiner. In November 2006 the 25-year-old was promoted to digital journalist, effectively editing the new-look Examiner website.
Just two days into his new role he became seriously ill and called in sick. A week later he drove himself to A&E and was eventually diagnosed with leukaemia.
It was then identified that he actually has two distinct types of the disease running at the same time. According to the medical literature he is the only person in the world to have this condition. As such, it has not been possible to offer Adrian a prognosis.
Here he shares his experiences of the disease and his treatment.

Hi Adrian
I have been following your diary for a few weeks now. I have just watched the video, it is terrific, it will be wonderful teaching material and viewing for those about to undergo a transplant. I am having a mini sct in the autumn for CML.
I hope that things are continuing to go well for you.

I just need to say I know from personal experience with a family member exactly what you, your girlfriend and family are going through. I am full of admiration and feel very humbled that you are sharing this life changing experience with us all - you will help so many people in their very dark hours.

Adrian - I wanted to tell you I've been amazed at the way you've managed to do such a brilliantly professional journalistic job on your blog, under what are obviously extremely testing circumstances. The video took your story to a different level - it was inspiring and, as someone has already said, humbling. Best wishes for a speedy recovery - the Examiner needs you!

HI Adrian, thank you very much for making this video. My daughter who is 15 has been diagnosed with CML and she may have to have a stem cell transplant if her siblings can produce a match. I have had loads of information verbally, but to see it as it goes on is fantastic. Its really give me an idea of what she has to expect.
